I might be a tad biased, because this poem was birthed out of an event I coordinated college, but it is one of my favorites. I’d asked Justin to perform some poetry for the upcoming Rock Against Rape event, held at the University of Missouri through the Relationship and Sexual Violence Prevention (RSVP) Center. He told me he’d just finished a piece and could stop by the center to perform it for my supervisors. What came out was the emotional piece, Monster. We were left in awe – certainly convinced we’d need to give a trigger warning before he performed, but definitely impressed.
There’s no other way to introduce this piece, so check the video out for yourself!
